WHERE I COME FROM

I am originally from Valparaiso, Indiana, where I grew up with an older sister and two younger brothers. I moved to The Villages part-time in 2012 when I purchased a Merle Norman Cosmetic Studio in Colony Plaza. In 2016 I sold my house in Indiana and moved to The Villages full-time, except for the 1.5 years I returned to Indiana with my mother, who passed away in November 2022.

A THRIVING CAREER

I have always had "community" in my heart. I worked for a non-profit serving adults with developmental and physical disabilities, starting their Public Relations and Fundraising department. We conducted a successful $2 million â€‹capital fundraising campaign for a new facility. The agency is now thriving.

I moved on to Chamber of Commerce management, where I had a successful career as President/CEO of two Chambers in Indiana. I was also responsible for Economic Development and Public Policy, working closely with city, county, and state officials to bring new businesses to the community. More importantly, we worked with existing businesses -- large and small -- to help them survive and thrive.

I was recruited to the county-owned hospital as Vice President of Marketing and Communications during a time when the hospital's image in the community was very poor. Ultimately I worked with Porter County officials to sell the hospital to a large for-profit national hospital company. The county sold the hospital for more than $200 million.

The "loves of my life" are my two energetic doodles, Winnie and Finnegan, and their brothers and sisters who came before them. I have 8 nieces and nephews and 9 grand-nieces and nephews.

I am a real person, with sincere values, and a very real desire to contribute to the quality of life of my community. I have the ability to process information, regulations, and navigate the complicated aspects of local government.

It would be my honor to serve.
